“Ruth’s Rubes” Medal Three Years Running

From its first award, the Ruth Keeler Memorial Library’s “Ruth’s Rubes” became a legacy team with the Rube Goldberg Machine Contest and on Sunday, April 16, 2018 in its third year the team has validated their legacy standing by taking 3rd place at the 15th annual Lower Hudson Valley Engineering Expo in White Plains. In 2016 the team was awarded a special Rube Goldberg Legacy Award for presenting a machine that demonstrated a true understanding of the heart and soul of Rube Goldberg. In 2017 they took second place in the overall competition. This year they placed third while having a great time presenting their machine and sharing what they learned with hundreds of middle school students at the EXPO’s Test Lab Activity Room. The ten members of the team Alex, John Michael, Finn, Emily, Josh, Rina, Nicholas, Aleia, Laura and Maya met many Friday nights and Sunday afternoons since January with coaches John and Eileen Diehl to create their machine. The team has plans to make a final presentation at the Ruth Keeler Memorial Library before the next Board of Trustees meeting May 8th, 5:00 pm.
